BALDWIN CITY — The Baldwin City Council said thanks but no thanks. A citizens’ panel is recommending that the city use the proceeds from a proposed quarter-cent sales tax increase for hike-bike trails and park improvements. However, the Baldwin City Signal reports that the council doesn’t want to earmark the new proceeds. A public forum on the sales tax proposal is 7:30 Monday night. Voters will decide on the proposed increase on Nov. 3. The city’s sales tax will drop by a half-cent when the city pool is paid off.
