TOPEKA — The president of the Kansas Independent Oil and Gas Association, Dick Schremmer, said that small operators are worried that the state’s budget problems will become their problems. As legislators eye raising revenues, KIOGA members’ goal will be to see that that doesn’t include increases in the state’s severance tax or other oil-related fees, he said. The price of gasoline may be going up at the pump, but that doesn’t necessarily mean better times for Kansas’ small oil and gas driller, he said. Drillers are getting less money for their crude oil, he said.
