OTTAWA — Franklin County has its first confirmed case of swine flu and third batch of swine flu vaccine. Franklin County health director Midge Ransom said a hospital confirmed that one of its patients from Franklin County had H1N1 swine flu. However, although there are no other confirmed cases, it’s likely that swine flu is making inroads throughout the county, she said. Many elementary school classes are seeing an absence rate of 15 to 20 percent this week. Franklin County received the third batch of swine flu Monday, she said. Many of the high-priority people are being vaccinated and Ransom said as soon as the county has enough vaccines, she’ll start working on getting the general population vaccinated. KOFO’s public affairs program Community Perspective will devote its entire program Sunday morning to the swine flu in Franklin County.
