OTTAWA — Want a date? The date you don’t want is Nov. 19. Kansas state trooper Edna Butler said statistically, that is the date you’re most likely to hit a romantically-inclined deer. The Highway Patrol warns you to be on the lookout from now to the end of the year for deer crossing roads when you drive. She said dusk and dawn are especially dangerous. Be careful at curves, along streams and woods and when roads cross low-lying areas. She said motorcyclists are unusually vulnerable to deer. Four of the six deer-related fatalities last year involved motorcyclists, she said.
