OTTAWA — When you think of deer, you should think of red brake lights, not red noses. State and area law agencies are fielding several reports about vehicles hitting deer at night. Franklin County Undersheriff Steve Lunger said you should be careful all night, not just at dawn and dusk. Vehicles have hit deer at all hours of the night, he said. At least four people hit deer in Franklin County this weekend. Before the weekend, Robert Carter of Ottawa swerved to miss a deer and hit a tree near Williamsburg. He received minor injuries and was treated and released at Ransom Memorial Hospital.
