ARNETT — Anderson County has picked up a state grant of nearly $297,000 to help build a new fire station at Colony. The Kansas Department of Commerce gave nearly $1.2 million from its Small Towns Environment program to two cities and two counties. The proposed fire station will have 6,300 square feet and include a meeting room, parking bays for fire trucks and a safe room. Volunteers will donate more than $335,000 in labor and equipment for the new fire station.
