OTTAWA — Ottawa University coach Kent Kessinger has been named the KCAC coach of the year. The Braves have gone undefeated and start national playoffs Saturday against Hastings College. You can hear Kessinger on a special playoff edition of the Kent Kessinger Show from Drivers Sports Cafe at 7:06 Wednesday night, live on KOFO 1220 and on-line at www.kofo.com. Braves’ senior quarterback Ethan Haller was named KCAC player of the year and offensive player of the year. Braves’ senior running back Andy Otto received the Dr. Ted Kessinger Champion of Character Award. The Braves had several players named to the KCAC’s all-star teams — First team offense: quarterback Ethan Haller, receivers Clarence Anderson and Corey Schultz, tight end Taylor Burnett, and linemen Julian Mendez and Matt Pennington. First-team defense: linebackers Ross Diehl and Josh Hojje and lineman Jamison Shaw. Kicker Casey Wieder was named first-team special teams. Andy Otto was named to the second team offense. Honorable mention: Zach Schultz, Daniel Calera, Jay Smith, Earl Moorning, Fielding Brenner, Art Rubio, Seth Homolka and Jarvis Morehead-Reed.
