OTTAWA — The Salvation Army’s bell-ringer campaign kick-off hit a record this weekend. The Salvation Army’s Adam Lynch said the bellringers brought in $2,600 at Wal-Mart and Country Mart. He said that put the drive almost two times ahead of the pace at the same time last year. Bellringers for the weekend included Rick and Rettie Green, Shirley Gilges, and Darian Lynch. Lynch said he’s looking for bellringers for this weekend. Bellringers not only do a good deed, they often meet friends who stop to chat, he said. To volunteer, call 418-1287.
