OTTAWA — A 44-year-old Franklin County man has died as a result of H1N1 swine flu. Health director Midge Ransom said the man’s death was reported to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. His death was one of two deaths reported Tuesday afternoon by the KDHE. Ransom said she and her department expresseS sympathy to the man’s family. The KDHE said the Franklin County man, who wasn’t identified, had other medical conditions. A 35-year-old man from northeast Kansas who died of swine flu didn’t have any other medical conditions. If you’re 64 or younger, the Franklin County Health Department will give you a swine flu vaccination today at the county annex. Ransom said her staff will try to give as many vaccinations as they can from 10 to 2, perhaps as many as 400. Ransom said that because of the holiday, she wanted to use up this week’s allotment as quickly as possible. The vaccinations will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. The KDHE said 21 Kansans have died from swine flu.
