OVERLAND PARK — Kansas University’s Confucius Institute will host its annual lecture at tonight at 7 at the Regnier Hall Auditorium on KU’s Edwards campus in Overland Park. KU political science professor and China expert John Kennedy will talk about the missing girls of rural China. Because of China’s draconian one-child birth control program, Chinese census reports show an abnormally high percentage of male children born in China. However, Kennedy’s research shows there are large numbers of unregistered, unreported girls in China’s rural villages. The lecture is free and open to the public.
