TOPEKA — The state emergency operations center has been activated because of the winter storm that’s hitting most of Kansas.  Adjutant General Tod Bunting said up to a foot of wind-driven snow could fall on northern Kansas.  A Winter Storm Warning is in affect for much of northeast Kansas.  Franklin County and Anderson County are under a Winter Weather Advisory until 6 Wednesday morning.  Emergency officials said you should have enough food, water, medications and other necessities on hand to last at least three days.  Keep flashlights with plenty of batteries.  Buy an emergency weather radio and use it.  Be sure you have a safe alternative heat source.
