OTTAWA – There is a Winter Storm Warning until Wednesday morning for counties west of Franklin and Anderson counties, with a Winter Weather Advisory for the entire KOFO listening area.  The storm will have lots of snow, howling north winds and bitter wind chills, said Chad Omitt, of the National Weather Service’s Topeka office.  Areas to the west could get nine inches of snow, with Ottawa receiving from three to five inches, with the heaviest snow falling beginning this afternoon, he said.  But he said that after the snow abates, the winds will increase in speed, with gusts hitting 40 miles an hour.  The heavy wins will produce unusually cold wind chills; among the worst in recent years, he said.  Wind chills will likely be between 6 and 4 below zero, but some wind chills could be 25 to 30 below in the area, he said.
