TOPEKA — The commander of the Kansas National Guard will announce Friday afternoon which 18 armories will be closed. Kansas Adjutant General and Maj. Gen. Tod Bunting will announce the closings at news conference at 2. The closings are part of a series of state budget cuts ordered by Gov. Mark parkinson. Parkinson ordered a series of cuts so the state could cover a revenue shortage. Bunting saID units at those targeted armories would be transferred to one of the remaining armories. Bunting said more armories could be closed later.
