OTTAWA — Franklin County will solicit contractors to repair seven trestles in the county along the Midland Railway. Commissioners voted Wednesday to seek proposals for repairs to the trestles. County administrator Lisa Johnson said the county received a grant on the tourist railroad’s behalf to pay for the repair costs. Johnson said she hopes the full route between Baldwin City, where the railroad is based, and Ottawa is restored by next spring. Federal economic stimulus funds provided the money for the grant the county received.
