OTTAWA — The Ottawa City Commission will vote Wednesday morning on a transportation grant application that will allow the city to build sidewalks and bike lanes on 15th Street between the Prairie Spirit Trail and Eisenhower Road. Sidewalks are needed in the area but there are places where the need is greater, said city manager Richard Nienstedt. However, because of the way the grant program is handled, the grant can only be used in an area around the trail, he said. If funded in full, the project would cost $389,000, with the grant paying for 80 percent of the costs.
