OTTAWA — A 42-year-old Franklin County man survived a carjacking that originated west of Ottawa Monday morning. The Franklin County Sheriff’s office said the man stopped to help a woman walking along the highway in the 1700 block of K-68 west of Ottawa. When the woman got into his car, she pulled a gun and ordered him to go Kansas City. When they got to I-635 and State Avenue she ordered him to drive into a parking lot and get out. She took his car and he was left uninjured. The sheriff’s department said the car is a gold-colored 1998 Ford Escort with a Kansas firefighter license plate.
