OTTAWA–There has been a delay in the opening of part of a new four-lane U.S. 59 highway between Ottawa and Lawrence. The Kansas Department of Transportation says cold weather has kept contractors from putting permanent markings on the highway…and several days with temperatures of 50 or above are needed to complete the work. KDOT says weather permitting, the stretch of highway will open on or before February 1, 2010.
