OSAWATOMIE — The Osawatomie City Council has opted to drop out of the Public Employer-Employee Relations Act. The action means that the city will no longer have to negotiate with the union that represents city employees after Jan. 1, 2011. City manager Bret Glendenning told the Osawatomie Journal that the city will provide employees the best wages, benefits and working conditions it can even though it will no longer negotiate the union. Union representatives told the Journal they’re concerned by the city’s action.
