PAOLA — If you’re going those family Christmas dinners and you’re trying to stick with a diet, Miami County Extension agent Diane Burnett said you can control what’s offered at those dinners. Bring a healthy, low-calorie food to the dinner, she said. That way, at least one healthy food you like will be there. She said you can also drink a big glass of water or eat a healthful snack before you go to a holiday dinner. She says when you get there, put a salad or a big helping of vegetables on your holiday plate. Make fewer baked goods and give them away, she said. If you overeat for one or two days, forgive yourself and exercise a bit more, she said.
