POMONA — The deadline to file for this year’s Pomona City Council and other municipal elections is noon Tuesday. County Clerk Shari Perry said there’s a $5 filing fee plus some paperwork. Candidates can file at the Pomona city hall or Perry’s office. The three council seats held by Dorothy Pritchard, Don Lockaby and Mary Whitaker are up for election this spring. No one had filed before the weekend but city officials say there has been several questions about the filing procedure. The election will take place in the shadow of battles between Mayor Joanne Hancock and the city council, one of which – involving Doug Combs, city zoning administrator — has ended up in Franklin County District Court. Osawatomie and Garnett also have municipal elections this spring.
