TOPEKA — Westar Energy said it has bought the rights to build a new wind farm in western Kansas near Spearville. Westar plans a farm that will produce up to 500
megawatts of wind energy over the next two years, depending on the pace of building new transmission lines. Westar owns one wind farm near Leoti, and part of a wind farm near Nashville, and buys power from a wind farm near Concordia.
