POMONA — Could there be a grudge match coming in the Pomona City Council race? Among the candidates: Rex Hancock, husband of Mayor Joanne Hancock, and Richard Adler, the mayor who was unseated by Joanne Hancock at the last election. Other candidates for the three seats include two incumbents, Don Lockaby and Mary Whitaker. Other candidates are Walter Cunningham, Rick Smith and Jerry Slaven. Because there are seven candidates for three seats, normally there would be a primary election. However, County Clerk Shari Perry said she needs to consult a Pomona city ordinance concerning primary elections before she schedules a primary. The election will take place in the shadow of a lawsuit filed by Joanne Hancock acting as mayor against the city council and zoning administrator Doug Combs.
