OTTAWA — This afternoon’s Red Cross blood drive will honor long-time blood drive organizer Joe Rich who is retiring. He said he may be retiring but he won’t be gone; he said he intends to donate at least three more pints so he can get his 30-gallon pin. Rich has served as county chairman for 10 years and boosted the number of donations and blood drives and been valuable to the Franklin County Red Cross, said Bev Kerbs, Red Cross volunteer coordinator. Rich has also volunteered for his church and the Shriners as well as the Wyandotte County Red Cross. Today’s blood drive will be noon to 6 at the National Guard Armory.
