OTTAWA — Friday was Kansas Day, the 149th birthday of a state forged in the flames of civil war. The Ottawa City Commission recently issued a proclamation honoring the day. Franklin County Historical Society’s Deb Barker thanks them, saying the celebration is important in telling the story of Kansas and its beginnings during the Civil War.
