OSAWATOMIE — A large silver teapot is cherished as a family heirloom by Orlie and Norma Davidson of Osawatomie. But the Osawatomie Journal reports that an ugly dent in the teapot is the most prized part of the teapot. Orlie Davidson said that desperadoes Jesse and Frank James stayed at the Davidson farm in Missouri more than 130 years ago after they pulled a bank job. He said his ancestors didn’t know who their visitors were and offered them food and lodging for the night as they would any traveler. But someone did know who they were and took a shot at Jesse James through the window. The bullet hit the teapot and missed him. He left but thanked them. Afterwards, the Davidsons learned their visitors’ identity.
