OSAGE CITY — The race may belong to the swiftest but a Carbondale man shouldn’t have bet on the outcome. Osage County Sheriff Laurie Dunn said an Overbrook police officer tried to stop a vehicle in Overbrook Wednesday night. The vehicle accelerated away but after about a minute, the driver rolled his vehicle near 165th and Ratner roads. Dunn said the driver started running with the officer running after him. After a brief struggle, the driver broke free and the officer lost sight of him, she said. That resulted in a manhunt that was called off late Wedneday night. However, Dunn said Osage county deputies arrested 28-year-old Jeremy Long at his home in Carbondale. He was arrested without incident and is in the Osage County jail.
