OTTAWA — The Ottawa Police Department’s Project Childsafe has changed dates. The safety kits, which include a gun lock, will be distributed on Saturday, Feb. 27, between 9 and noon at the Ottawa Municipal Auditorium at the same time as the McGruff Club. Police Chief Dennis Butler said anyone with children living in their homes is welcome to stop in the front lobby to get a safety kit, even if they do not attend McGruff Club. He says each kit contains a safety curriculum and a cable-style gun lock. The locks fit on most types of the handguns, rifles, and shotguns.
