OTTAWA — The city has requested a federal grant to help rebuild Davis Road between K-68 and Sand Creek Road. Mayor Blake Jorgensen said that sometimes, traffic is backed up on Davis a quarter-mile to half-mile from K-68. Ironically, the tie-ups are a result of strong economic development at the city industrial park as industries add more employees, and because of the new Lincoln Elementary School near the industrial park, he said. The road is an old narrow county road with deep ditches and drainage problems, he said. Commissioner Gene Ramsey said the condition of the road is stifling economic development. American Eagle Outfitters is looking at expanding its distribution plant in the industrial park but won’t until the road problems are alleviated, he said. It’s important to redo the intersection of Davis road and K-68, he said.
