EDGERTON — A proposed intermodal center at Edgerton didn’t receive a $50 million federal transportation grant called a Tiger grant. Developers had hoped to get the grant to jump-start the project and begin construction this year. Earlier, BNSF railroad officials had said that intermodal center would be built but if the Kansas Department of Transportation didn’t get the Tiger grant, it would be put on the shelf until the economy improves. It wasn’t immediately known what the impact will be. Federal officials announced the Tiger grants Wednesday. An application by the Kansas City-based Mid-America Regional Council did receive a $50 million Tiger grant for transit corridors in the Kansas City area and for what is called the “Green Impact Zone” in downtown Kansas City.
