OTTAWA — A Miami County construction company will probably get the contract to rebuild the Marais des Cygnes River bridge on Vermont Road north of Rantoul. Franklin County public works director Jim Haag told county commissioners this morning that the low bid was nearly a half-million dollars lower than expected. Brian Ohlmeier Construction submitted the low bid of slightly more than $1.6 million. There were five bidders, Haag said. The state will have to OK the bid, he said. Most of the cost of replacing the bridge will be paid from state and federal transportation grants.
