OTTAWA — Block scheduling at Ottawa High School is one casualty of state cutbacks to public education. Ottawa superintendent Dean Katt said the end of block scheduling is one of several changes to the school days and calendars that could be made to cover a $600,000 cut in state aid to Ottawa schools. The school board approved the block scheduling change Monday night and the change was announced to students Tuesday. The board is looking at other calendar changes, including lengthening the school day and cutting the number of days, he said. The change takes effect next fall.
