COLONY — Crest school officials are watching a house bill that could cost the district even more. Crest superintendent Lee Jones said House Bill 2704 would eliminate extra money for small school districts such as Crest. He told the Anderson County Review that if the bill passes, Crest could lose more than $208,000 on top of other budget cuts it’s had to make. To survive, he said the district would have raise local property taxes by nine mills. Parents and school staff have been calling House members to protest.
