OTTAWA–Results have been announced from the 3rd annual Ottawa Planning Commission in honor of October…..which is National Community Planning Month. Citizens, youth and city employees were encouraged to capture images of Ottawa whether of buildings, outdoor spaces, or events. A total of 33 photographs were submitted from 11 individuals. There was a tie for the overall winner of the citizen over 19 years between Warren Smith and Nicole Huffman and each received a $75 cash prize. Smith’s theme was “A Calm in the Storm” and Huffman’s was “Winter Resort.” Another winner was Gabriel Tayor, who won the overall youth prize of $50 with an entry titled “That Big Cool Tree.” The overall winner in the City Employee Group was Wynndee Lee for her photo titled “Kanza Winter Landscape.” She also won the Mayor’s Choice Category for a photo titled “Kanza Winter Lights.” Lee was awarded some extra vacation leave. The City Commission will recognize the winner of the Mayor’s Choice Award at their meeting on Wednesday, October 20. All of the photos received are currently on display at City Hall in the lobby until November 1.
