LaCYGNE — The city of LaCygne says it got railroaded by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. The Osawatomie Journal reported that city officials and residents are angry because the railroad removed a pedestrian crossing during repairs to the rail crossing over K-152. The railroad has refused to re-install the crossing. Mayor Keith Smith said the pedestrian crossing is heavily used by residents, especially school children. The city will fight to get the crossing re-installed, he said.
