SALINA — During their entire football season, the Louisburg Wildcats had never been behind. But Saturday, they were behind 10-0 against Holton after their first two possessions in the state 4-A football title game in Salina. It was a whole new experience; one that the Wildcats didn’t like, said coach Gary Griffin. The team pulled itself together and started playing good football. As a result, Louisburg won their first state championship 24-16. Quarterback Kody Cook got the Wildcats on the scoreboard in the second quarter with a touchdown pass and Derek Mathia’s field goal tied the game at 10-10 in the third. Cook broke the game open in the fourth quarter with another touchdown pass and then returned an interception for another touchdown.
