OTTAWA — The Christmas Bureau will help about 400 Franklin County families this year, said the Christmas Bureau’s Richard Jackson. That will be a record, he said. The poor economy and high employment is boosting the numbers of people applying for help with food and toys, and Jackson said he’s seeing people who have never applied before. The deadline to apply is 4 p.m. Friday. To apply, bring proof of income to ECKAN’s central office on South Ash Street. Meanwhile, the Christmas Bureau is still seeking donations for those families, he said. The drive to raise money for holiday food is half way to its goal, he said. Last weekend’s Franklin County Biker Toy Run raised $18,000 for toys, he said.
