LAWRENCE–The Environmental Protection Agency has issued the Kansas Department of Transportation an administration compliance order, stating it should correct violations of a stormwater permit for the US Highway 59 construction site in Douglas and Franklin Counties. When EPA inspectors visited the construction site in August, they noticed areas where sediment control was absent or altogether lacking. K-Dot is required to submit a report to EPA with specific corrections within 30 days.
