OTTAWA — The Ottawa city commissioners have decided to vote next week on hiring an engineering consultant to look at the city’s electric master plan. The last electric master plan was done eight years ago, Jim Bradley, city utility director, said. Since then, the city commissioned studies regarding the city’s power grid and cooperative power generation. Nearly all of the recommendations regarding the power grid, including a new transmission line and two new substations have been done or are being done, he said. The consulting firm, Sawvel and Associates is wrapping up an electric master plan for the city of Osawatomie and will do one for Ottawa if commissioners approve. The cost of the plan would be $55,000 and would be paid out of utility funds.
