OTTAWA — Here’s straw poll that really means something. Franklin County Shari Perry said no one filed for the Peoria township clerk. So, voters got out their pencils and wrote in who they wanted. Perry said that ended up in a tie vote with eight people. Three people were interested in the position, she said. That meant county commissioners decided to draw straws to pick the winning candidate Wednesday. Commissioners Don stottlemire and Ed Taylor drew straws from the hand of Chairman David Hood. The short straw — and the winner — Sherri Northrup.
