TULSA — The Tulsa World newspaper is reporting that Kansas University will hire Tulsa University’s athletic director to be its new AD. Lawrence “Bubba” Cunningham has been Tulsa’s athletic director for five years. Before that, he was AD at Ball State and assistant AD at Notre Dame. If he’s hired, Cunningham would succeed Lew Perkins who retired under fire in the wake of a series of scandals and a lackluster football season. The Lawrence Journal-World describes Cunningham as a low-key administrator able to talk to major contributors and good at improving facilities.
