TOPEKA–Millions of motorists will be on the road the next couple of weeks during the holiday travel period. The Kansas Highway Patrol is urging drivers to practice safety on the roadways…and with the threat of winter weather, the danger level is increased. The Patrol says the Christmas and New Year’s Holidays will see more people drinking alcohol and some will try to drive. A year ago at this time, there were over a hundred alcohol-related crashes in Kansas, and the Patrol hopes to cut down on that with increased enforcement. Troopers say in general, you need to practice extra caution, not only that you aren’t impaired when you drive, but that you can safely travel on possibly hazardous roads caused by ice and other adverse weather conditions.
