OTTAWA–The first Legislative Coffee took place Saturday. Kansas State Senators Jeff King and Pat Apple were present, as well as Representatives William Prescott, Bill Feuerborn, Bill Otto, and Terri Lois Gregory. The legislatures discussed issues they intend to address this session, with budget cuts and KPERS being big topics of concern. Senator Feuerborn expressed that with budget cuts, he wants to make sure the state is careful in its actions. In terms of retirement, Senator King assured the public with a promise that retirees would receive their KPERS retirement. The next Legislative Coffee will take place Saturday, February 5th.
