GARNETT — Water sports will make a splash this year in Garnett. The Garnett City Commission has approved requests for expanded water competitions this summer. The INT League has annually held two water-skiing competitions at Lake Garnett. This year, the group requested an opportunity for a third event. Organizers requested the third weekend in case of a scheduling conflict at a lake near Wichita. The city has also approved a national boat race competition to be held by the Oklahoma Boat Racing Association in June at Cedar Valley reservoir. The group staged a smaller race at Lake Garnett last year but decided to hold a larger event at the larger reservoir southwest of Garnett.
