OTTAWA — Undersheriff Steve Lunger said a 14-year-old Kansas City boy has recanted his story that someone forced him to perform a sex act along I-35 Monday night. The teen had reported that when his family ran out of gas near Ottawa, he decided to walk to a service station. He reported that someone in a pickup truck offered him a ride and then forced him to perform the sex act. During a second interview with a Franklin County Sheriff’s detective, the boy confessed that he made up the story of the attack, Lunger said. He said it’s unknown at this time why the boy made up the story.
