OTTAWA–Ottawa educators are trying to teach government officials why school funding needs to be preserved. Citizens expressed their worry to state legislatures at Saturday’s Legislative Coffee. State Senator Pat Apple does not foresee the next year to be easy as he predicts Ottawa’s budget cuts to double. Representative William Prescott recognizes the community concern stating that education is foremost in all legislature’s minds. Representative Bill Otto says that a lot of tough decisions are to be made in balancing the budget, and he hopes to keep schools from taking too much of the hit.
