GARNETT — An early morning fire has severely damaged a major manufacturing plant in Garnett. Ottawa Fire Chief Jeff Carner said Ottawa firefighters were requested at about 2:30 a.m. this morning by the Garnett Fire Department to provide help to fight the blaze at Astro Manufacturing. The cause wasn’t immediately known. Astro makes a variety of pickup toppers and last year, signed a deal with a Miami County company to make large components for pool slides and play equipment.
