OTTAWA — Last weekend, the Franklin County Numana Feed the Starving project packed 110,000 packs of high-protein food for the world’s hungry people.  Ottawa High School’s Empty Bowls project has been seeking to raise funds for area food pantries.  For 15 months, members of the Worldwatch Institute have traveled sub-Saharan Africa, where the worst famine exists, researching the problem of hunger.  The group issued a “State of the World 2011: Innovations That Nourish the Planet” that focuses instead on what is going right and highlights the innovations that are helping alleviate hunger and poverty.  The leader of the project said the report should be a road map for funding and donor organizations, pointing them at viable projects while at the same time protecting the environment.  You can hear her on this Sunday’s Community Perspective at 8:04.
