RICHMOND — The National Weather Service of Topeka said ping-pong-ball-sized hail pummeled southern Franklin County near Richmond Sunday afternoon. Hail that was more than golf-ball-sized fell in the Lane area, Albert James, Lane, said. He said his yard was white because so much hail fell. The severe thunderstorm packed winds of more than 60 miles an hour. There was no immediate report of damage or injuries.
