OTTAWA–Last minute pleas were made to keep the Eisenhower Elementary School open…but it was to no avail. The Ottawa Board of Education has voted 7-0 to close Eisenhower at the end of this school year. Before the vote, Erin Chappel, who taught for 3 years at Lincoln Elementary, made a last-minute plea to use what she called common sense, and not to close the school and to keep an open mind.
As it turned out, the Board voted unanimously to close Eisenhower in an effort to stave off financial disaster.
