KANSAS CITY, Mo– The Kansas City Royals are inducting one of their own. Right handed pitcher Kevin Appier has been voted into the Royals Hall of Fame. He will become the 24th Inductee during the on-field ceremonies prior to the Chicago Cubs/Royals game at Kauffman Stadium June 25th. Not only was Appier the Royals’ all time strikeout leader with 1,458, he ranks fourth in wins (115), games started (275), and he’s one of only two Royals to throw a pair of one-hit games with the Royals. He joins fellow Royals Hall of Famer Paul Splittorff.
